Who we are

Tracy Grant
DofE Manager
I have a strong belief in the DofE Award, and have seen the benefits from participation first hand in my own 3 children. I have been involved as the DofE leader for the Centre since Sept 1996….. I was asked if I would be interested in running the group with 8 participants. We now have around 100 participants every year at all 3 DofE Award levels.
I come from a background of teaching(secondary science and years 3-6 primary) and youth work. I have always had a strong interest in the outdoors and the benefits that being outside and working as a team in challenging circumstances has on young people. It builds their confidence and self-esteem, enhances their risk management and eases their transition into adulthood.

A former member of the British Army, I've been walking around with a pack on my back and a map in my hands since 1987!!
I've been involved with the DofE since 2013, and passionately believe that all our participants come away with firm life skills, including the ability to work together, empathise with others and a good level of self-confidence. Not to mention an appreciation for this wonderful countryside of ours!
After a hard week at work, I find the enthusiasm and outlook of our participants a fantastic tonic!
